What Causes Insomnia and What Can You Do About It?

A large number of people regularly use prescription medications to help them sleep. While these aids work for many people, there are possible side effects that can be as detrimental as the original condition. For example, some people become addicted to the drugs. Before asking a doctor to write a prescription, investigate the use of organic and holistic methods as sleep aids.

In case you have any doubt, sleep is a necessity, not a luxury. Without it the body begins to suffer in terms of mental and physical capabilities. There have been many studies documenting the body’s need for rest. However, most of us have done our own research in our own lives and know how much we need sleep.

What causes insomnia?

What can you do?
Avoid stimulants such as caffeine, especially before bedtime.
Establish a night time routine and don’t take long naps during the day.
Count sheep. (The repetition seems to help you fall asleep.)
Use natural aids such as melatonin.
Eliminate alcohol consumption.
Get a massage or try acupuncture.
Do whatever helps you relax.

Eventually, you may decide that you need sleeping medication. If this point arrives, do not take someone else’s medicine. Instead, consult a doctor, and together the two of you can find a treatment plan to tackle your insomnia issues safely and with as few side effects as possible.
